EMCE Seminar Series: “More Light on… Central Europe" is a series of 16 online organized as part of the EMCE International Research Network project. The series brings together researchers, educators, and policymakers from Central Europe to discuss challenges for international migration and education.

About the speaker – Galia Chimiak
Assoc. Prof. Galia Chimiak is a sociologist and civil society scholar, Professor at the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology of the Polish Academy of Sciences (IFiS PAN). She holds degrees in English Studies and in Society and Politics (CEU/University of Lancaster), a PhD in sociology (2004), and a habilitation (2017). Her research focuses on non-governmental organizations, civil society, and development cooperation.
In 2024–2025 she was a Fulbright Senior Award fellow in the United States. She has cooperated, among others, with UNDP in Bosnia and Herzegovina and has taught at universities in Poland, Ireland, and the United States. Since 2022 she has served as co-editor-in-chief of VOLUNTAS: International Journal of Voluntary and Nonprofit Organizations.
