Written information from NAWA of foreign secondary school certificates for Bachelor’s degree applicants

 

Starting from July 1, 2025, formal confirmation of eligibility to apply for first-cycle or long-cycle master’s studies in Poland is issued by the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA).


Applications must be submitted online via the SYRENA system - the link will be available from July 1.

Master’s degree applicants

Written information from NAWA of foreign secondary school certificates for Master’s degree applicants

(for applicants to second-cycle (Master’s) studies – valid from 1 July 2025)

 

If you are applying for a second-cycle (Master’s) program in Poland, you may need a written confirmation from NAWA (Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange) stating that your diploma entitles you to continue your education in Poland.

 

Applications must be submitted online via the SYRENA system - the link will be available from July 1.

Recognition not required

The following certificates are automatically recognized — no need to apply to NAWA or the Educational Superintendent:

  • EU, EFTA and OECD countries:
    Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Canada, South Korea, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, United Kingdom, United States
  • International diplomas:
    International Baccalaureate (IB), European Baccalaureate (EB)
  • Countries with bilateral agreements:
    Ukraine, China

 

Other applicants

If your certificate was issued in a country not listed above, you must:

Starting July 1, 2025 – apply to NAWA via SYRENA to confirm eligibility for higher education in Poland.

 

Syrena is NAWA’s online system for applying for recognition of foreign diplomas in Poland. It allows users to submit documents and receive digital recognition statements quickly and fully online.
