| ULS is comprised of two faculties, the Faculty of Education and the Faculty of Social Sciences and Media Studies, which grant first- and second-cycle, and doctoral degrees, and the interdepartmental International Institute for the Study of Culture and Education, which sponsors international research and teaching programs.
A note on terminology: Following the Bologna Process and the creation of the European Higher Education Area (EHEA), universities have adopted the terms first and second cycle to refer to degrees approximately equivalent to the Bachelor's and Master's degrees standard in the US system.
Faculty of Education
- Department of Education
The Department of Education offers first-cycle, second-cycle, and Ph.D. degrees as well as post-graduate courses. Students may specialize in art education, primary education, pedagogical therapy, health education, family pedagogy, vocational and educational counselling, social work, occupational therapy, adult education, media studies, educational management, and the sociology of education. The 61-member departmental faculty offers lecture courses and advanced seminars focusing on these areas.

- Department of Special Education
The Department of Special Education offers first-cycle, second-cycle, and Ph.D. degrees as well as post-graduate courses. Students may specialize in the pedagogy of resocialization, mental disability, Deaf education, and medical education. The 30-member departmental faculty offers lecture courses and advanced seminars focusing on these areas.

- Institute of Continuing Education and Educational Studies
The Department offers postgraduates courses and courses for educators, educational consultants, and local government employees. The 19-member faculty covers a range of specializations, including theories of learning and teaching, the sociology of education, and new modes of inquiry and evaluation. The department also carries out various research and service activities, such as the preparation of expert opinions and diagnostic surveying and analysis.

- Department of International Relations
The Department of International Relations offers a first-cycle degree and post-graduate courses. Students may concentrate in international security, European integration, international politics, regional studies and international tourism. The department offers courses in international law, world conflicts, history, globalization, economics and security studies.

- Department of Journalism and Communications
The Department of Journalism and Social Communications offers a first-cycle degree and post-graduate courses. Students may take courses in communications theory, new media, public relations, ethics, propaganda, interviewing technique, public opinion research, political communications, and sports journalism.

- Department of Philosophy
The Department of Philosophy offers a first-cycle degree. Students may specialize in religious philosophy, ethics, or the translation of philosophical texts. Students may take courses on epistemology, aesthetics, philosophical anthropology, axiology, the philosophy of religion, and the philosophy of culture.

- Department of Cultural Studies
The Department of Cultural Studies offers a first-cycle degree. Students may specialize in European studies, with special focus on East-Central Europe. Students may take courses on aesthetics, ethics, popular culture, area studies on various parts of Europe , and rhetoric. The Department also offers a dual-degree program, a unique opportunity which allows students to earn a dual diploma from the State University of New York - Brockport and the University of Lower Silesia.

- Department of Cultural Anthropology
The Department of Cultural Anthropology offers a first-cycle degree. Students may specialize in cultural or visual anthropology. The departmental faculty covers a range of specializations, including political anthropology, anthropology of religion, gender studies and Eastern European studies. The department offers lecture courses and advanced seminars focusing on these areas, as well as on ethnographic and anthropological methodology. The visual anthropology track is a unique program which provides students with both theoretical knowledge of anthropology and practical skills in documentary film-making.
